Dino Table
The Dino table is an easy-to-build dinosaur themed table that fosters creativity and organization so young kids can engage in a world of their own creation!
With key features such as shelves and a flat table top, there are many avenues for engagement. It also encourages parent-child collaboration to assemble and take apart!
Our Process
Group Project - Sabrina Hebert and Flynn Coyne
-
Create a table for children that encourages collaboration between child and parent, acts as a storage/organization space, and provides a play surface with a child-like appeal.
The restraints on this project were that we were given a single sheet of plywood as well as the challenge of only using wood joints, no fasteners.
-
Our solution was to create a table with an immediately recognizable form that would connect with children's imaginative nature. We also created shelving for organization and a table top for play space with a sturdy base to fit any child's play level.
-
Our approach involved comprehensive research, prototyping, and iterative testing to create a table that fit all of our customer needs. We created personas and worked around project restraints throughout the development process to make sure our table met the specific goals and expectations of its target audience.

I learned an immense amount wood working during this project and was able to develop my skills significantly in the shop. I learned many new tools and experimented with wood paints and finishes. Overall, I made something targeted to a specific market under very specific restraints, and that gave me a glimpse into what industry work might look like.
